Way back in the beginning, I would supplement my bass playing income by running live sound in the clubs in and around London. Very soon, my reputation for sound quality at shows got around and I started to work for bigger bands. I started to study and to find out all that I could about sound techniques, and this continues up until the present. While I was with Ozzy, I put together a portable 12 track self contained mobile studio that I started to produce demos with, and finally in 1994 I started assembling my own full 24 track digital project studio that I used for many projects up until recently. In 1998 I started studying with the folks at Digidesign and became a Pro Tools consultant learning all I could about the system which I now work on 90% of the time.

The first things to come out were all writing projects for everyone from Beggars and Thieves to Vince Neil. When I finished Vince's material, we went into a bigger studio where I produced the 48-track demos that we used to get his $15m deal with Warner Bros!

After that I went on to one of my own projects entitled Cannibal Jacket (which remains the early stages of my solo project). It was hearing this recording that prompted Steve Lukather to express his desire for us to work together, and as a result I had some production input as well as writing on his "Luke" album.

I produced and recorded various sound source titles which were used in TV movies (one appearing recently in the CBS Movie of the Week) and worked with many small writer/artists to help develop what material they had. I finally found it necessary to base myself out of a larger full commercial studio and so at the end of 1997 I made a deal with "The Steakhouse" recording studios in North Hollywood. This is a fully equipped private recording facility which offers 24-track analog or 24-track digital recording and whose producer clientele include Steve Lukather and David Paich amongst others.

My first project at the Steakhouse was to co-write and produce all the music for "Cartoonsville" chidren's restaurants based in Brentwood California. (This was done in partnership with Randy Castillo and we formed a production company called Philandy Productions.)

This was of course children's music and it led to me meeting and working with 2 time Acadamy Award winner Al Kasha on a children's animated musical that I wrote with him entitled "Wherever there's a Snowman There's Christmas" that is shopping for a movie deal right now. Since then there have been many projects myself alone which I do under the name of Blue Cat Productions.

For Details on the most recent production projects please go to Latest Productions.

My goals as a producer/engineer are many but mainly to be able to bring my experience to the table in order to help the artist realize their musical art. I do not want to put my own trade mark on my productions, preferring to treat each artist as unique and different, and recording each as such.

Finally I don't hit the "stop" button until EVERYONE is smiling !! Representation for myself at this time is direct and I can be contacted by sending me an email.
